Maryse earned her bachelor's and master's degrees from California Lutheran University. After working for five years in California's Child Welfare Services as a social worker, she earned two teaching credentials and worked for 11 years teaching 5th and 6th grades. She has taught AVID classes and is a teacher consultant for the San Joaquin Valley Writing Project.
Recently, Maryse completed Master Gardener training. Maryse is now the CSG&M's Director of Education and writes our curriculum for the field trips as well as teaching the lessons on the trips! Her favorite part of spending time in the Garden is hearing from children and visitors all the ways the Garden serves the community.
Yasmin was first introduced to the Garden back in June 2019 starting off as a Creative Arts Intern and has enjoyed it ever since! She plays a couple of fun roles here at the Garden beginning with social media and marketing, our website, newsletter, weekend events, and other special events. She is also the Volunteer Coordinator, and currently helps out with art related classes for homeschool along with our interns and instructs painting classes for our Paint and Pour events. Yasmin received her Associates Degree in Liberal Arts and Humanities at West Hills College and Bachelors of Art Degree in Art at Fresno State University. Her experience with children comes from working in LIFE After School Program, for close to 3 years and teaching several art classes at the Kings Art Center.
Marv comes to us from a long wandering path of experience such as a Cal Poly International Agricultural/ High School vo-ag instruction with a Masters in agriculture, to large farm production, a small organic produce business and retail nursery years. He thoroughly enjoys all of his many children and grandchildren, and takes great pleasure in feeding all his friends and family fresh veggies from his Gardens. He loves his job at the Children's Storybook Garden!
Jean started volunteering at Children's Storybook Garden shortly after the grand opening in November 2017. She offered to help with office tasks as a way to give back to the Garden for providing such a fun, safe place for her granddaughters Lily and Hannah to play, create and help grow healthy food. Jean's office skills come from working for over 30 years for a dairy genetics export company.
